A Familiar Route, Refined

Copper Country Scenic Byway already had a recognizable identity, so the goal wasn’t to start over. We gave the existing logo a critical design review, refining the composition, color palette, and overall clarity so it could work more confidently across the website, signage, print materials, and other byway applications.

Built for the Road Ahead

The refreshed mark keeps the sense of place at the center—road, forest, water, and mining heritage—while creating a cleaner, more flexible identity for the next generation of Copper Country Scenic Byway communications.

The website

Team Effort

28 destinations sprinkled along Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. 28 destinations photographed, many of which were also video'd. 28 destinations described. 28 destinations featured in a vibrant, new website. 28 destinations featured with an interactive map hand-coded by our development team. Photos, video, storytelling, design, development... MONTE—more than marketing.

Video tour

We travelled all over the Keweenaw capturing both photo and video of the Copper Country Scenic Byway destinations. The videos created bring the destinations to life, often capturing interesting angles with the drone.

CCT responsive website design

Real Responsive

Every website we design and build responds beautifully on tablets, phones, and every size monitor. What does that mean? The design automatically adapts to fit the screen of the device you are using to view the website, ensuring that the text is always large enough to comfortably read. Are you on a phone or tablet now?

Design Details

The Copper Country Scenic Byway was tweaked for web. We also used a scan of a hand-drawn mine schematic as a watermark in the background. Another thoughtful design decision—does the organic area at the bottom of each page look familiar?

Hint: It was repurposed from the logo. All of these seemingly little details come together to help support the story of an area formed through perseverance, grit, and tenacity.

Outdoor Adventures

Rugged shoreline. Pristine forests. Stately buildings. The destinations along the Copper Country Scenic Byway are unique and fascinating in their own way. The Monte team designed and developed this website to take full advantage of the natural beauty of the area as captured in our photography. We invite you to explore the Keweenaw virtually and consider making a trip there in the future—with so much to see, do, and taste, you are sure to have an unforgettable experience!

Say More with Video

Our video team upped their multi-tasking game as they shot video and photos at several key destinations. Back in the office, we pieced them together and topped them off with peppy music and an animated map intro.

Worth the trip.

Have you ever thought about hopping on US 41 and heading North until it ends? Is a trip to Upper Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula worth the time, the gas, the effort?

The Copper Country Trail brochure will lay those doubts to rest. From a mansion with elephant skin wallpaper (yes, it's real) to a mine tour two miles underground, you may find more adventure than you bargained for. The brochure design is littered with stunning photos captured by our team as they traipsed from sandy beaches to historic sandstone architecture to towering timbers.
