The folks at KingStar approached MONTE for help with branding. They needed a logo to stand the test of time. Over the course of several conversations and seeing their one-of-a-kind horse trailer in action for ourselves, we embarked on the logo design journey.

Ideation
After reviewing notes, benchmarks, and client preferences Lauren begins to create a number of logo marks. The strongest marks are paired with typefaces specifically chosen for this brand, and then vetted before creating the initial set of logo concepts seen here that the MONTE team presented to the client for consideration.

Top Contenders
Matt and Lauren presented the logo designs live in a meeting with the KingStar team, and discussed each concept in detail. After noting KingStar's initial feedback, they were asked to review the options more closely before selecting their top choices. The top logo designs and their requested variations are seen here.

Color Collaboration
After several rounds of back and forth, the logo design was fine tuned and ready for color. Gold and black was a favorite combination from the start, and this process included the exploration of several shades of golds—from orange to yellow, bright to rich—before the final brand color set was defined.

Ready to Shine
The final KingStar brand features a crown (fit for a king!) that is also an abstract star. The lines forming the mark are a nod to the "arms" that form the automatic corral on each side of the trailer. The distinctive type and formatting are clearly western, yet the crisp contrast and rich color palette make it clear this brand has class.

Finishing Touch
A unique product deserves a unique business card. We designed a simple card that allows the brand to shine... literally. The crown logomark is being printed in a gold foil, and will have even more clout thanks to the emboss—a process where the logomark is pressed into the paper using a stamp.
The KingStar logo was the star of the trailer and camper decals that Lauren designed... as well as social media graphics, tradeshow tents, flyers, and ads.
