We met with Kris, Elliott’s Bakery owner, to get a deep understanding of the business, its history, and the bakery items to feature across the site.
Then, we traveled to the bakery’s Trenton, MI location to film the daily bakery routine from the donuts to the cookies and custom cakes. We filmed the baristas creating their coffee concoctions and the customers interacting as part of their daily routines. We finished out the day with interviews with each of the family members involved in carrying on the bakery’s history. The footage was used to create a video that plays in the header of the website upon page landing, as well as a video used across social channels. The slideshow area showcases the best footage from the bakery—hitting on all of the best bakery items.
Styling the Imagery
The photos were further edited for tone and style to showcase the bakery across the website and social channels.
Establishing Colors
While the maroon was always part of Elliott's brand colors, we expanded the palette to highlight the nostalgia and the history of the bakery.
Designed in History
The site uses design elements that mimic bakery decorating traditions, as well as pull in the colors of the bakery steeped in rich history.
Telling the Story
We didn't just capture the story through photo, video, and design, we also helped to tell the story. Our team wrote the content for the entire site - from the home page to the about. We took elements from the existing pages of the site, but expanded the pages to incorporate more details on the bakery's most popular items and add more background on custom bakery items like wedding cakes and cakes and cupcakes for birthdays, anniversaries, showers, and corporate events.
