Overview

Keeping character. Updating Experience.

The Ambassador already had something most brands spend years trying to build: history, recognition, and a place in the community. The goal wasn’t to change that. It was to make the experience feel more current while keeping everything people already loved intact.

The Challenge

The Ambassador wanted a more modern website, but not a rebrand. As a longtime community landmark, the restaurant needed to feel familiar to regulars while becoming more inviting and useful for new visitors and tourists.

our solution

We built the redesign around what makes The Ambassador unmistakably them: their murals, atmosphere, food, signature cocktails, history, and people. We paired a cleaner web experience with custom photography of the interior, exterior, popular menu items, cocktails, and the human moments that make the space feel welcoming.

Photography

A Taste of the Experience.

The photos needed to do more than document menu items. They needed to capture the experience of being there. We planned the shoot around the restaurant’s casual atmosphere, distinctive interior, popular food and cocktails, building details, and the people who give the space its energy. The goal was a mix of appetizing food photography and authentic moments of togetherness—not just pictures of things, but a sense of place.

Familiar, Only Easier to Explore

The redesigned site puts the visual experience first, using photography to lead visitors through the restaurant’s food, drinks, history, and character. We simplified navigation and improved usability with clearer calls to action, easier access to menus and online ordering, refreshed imagery, automated slideshow behavior, and mobile-friendly layouts.

Ready for Visitors

The Ambassador wanted the site to serve two audiences at once: longtime customers who already know what they love, and tourists looking for a memorable place to eat in downtown Houghton. The new site keeps essential information easy to find while giving the restaurant’s history, Hall of Fame content, food, drinks, and atmosphere more room to tell the story.
