As an entrepreneur, Matt understands what it's like to run a business. He's operated Monte Consulting since 2001 and has expanded the creative services offered to encompass photography, graphic design, writing, web, video, and CG animation.
Prior to founding Monte Consulting, Matt was a highly successful sales engineer. He pioneered one-off technical video production as a way to virtually demonstrate manufacturing processes with each customer's unique parts. Using this method, Matt acquired many Fortune 500 companies as new customers for a startup firm (view his customer list). His expertise runs the full gamut of digital communication technologies, enabling him to explain both the "how" and the "why" of a marketing campaign.
He has studied and worked in Japan, Germany and Switzerland. These years taught him effective intercultural communication skills and the intense listening practice required in language training. He speaks excellent German and has taught it at the university level. His Japanese is respectable, and he trains clients who will be visiting these countries how to interact politely and professionally, explaining the historical background of the local norms.
Matt graduated with honors from Michigan Technological University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, an MS Environmental Engineering, and two years of doctoral studies in Rhetoric and Technical Communication. When not working up an ideation or developing a communication plan, he can be spotted just about anywhere in North America astride his vintage R100 GS.
